What's the Buzz? 6/13/06

Sorry to all, but this edition isn't going to be as in depth as usual. My 8 year old nephew is staying over after my wife and I took him to his first outdoor concert today (moe. in Central Park) and he's sleeping in the room where the computer is.

The following guys have been put on the 15 day DL today:

Lance Niekro (1B Giants) groin strain
Josh Willingham (OF Marlins) strained hand ligament -- not on yet but expected to be on Wed.
Keith Foulke (P Red Sox) elbow tendenitis

The following guys are considered day to day and still haven't played:

Craig Monroe (OF Tigers) sprained ankle
Morgan Ensberg (3B Astros) bruised shoulder
Ryan Langerhans (OF Braves) strained hip flexor
Daryle Ward (OF Nationals) flu
Jason Giambi (1B Yankees) bruised hand

The following guys should be back from the DL very soon or just got back:

John Patterson (P Nationals) back on June 23
Joe Randa (3B Pirates) returned today
Mike Timlin (P Red Sox) returned today
Octavio Dotel (P Yankees) within 2 weeks
Shannon Stewart (OF Twins) possibly Friday
Jeff Kent (2B Dodgers) returned today

The following guys did really well today:

Chris Carpenter (P Cardinals) 7 shutout innings, 13 K's and a win
Roy Halladay (P Blue Jays) complete game victory, 6 hits, 1 ER

oh yeah...Kevin Mench may be losing his job to Mark DeRosa, the D-Backs designated Russ Ortiz for assignment and Dmitri Young is going to jail after failing to appear in court today. Well, maybe not jail, but there's a warrant out for him.

Sorry if you're feeling a little shortchanged, but c'mon...the kid's only 8.
