What's the Buzz? 6/12/06

Pretty short day today, so this could be quick...

Don't worry about Tyler Walker losing his job after blowing the save tonight against the Tigers. It's only his 2nd blown save in 12 chances and by Devil Rays standards, that's pretty damn good. His numbers in May give him the leeway here in June. He should rebound fine in his next chance.
Blue Jays starter A.J. Burnett looked sharp in his Triple-A start tonight and may be coming back earlier than expected. At the worst he'll be back on June 22nd so it's basically just depends on whether or not they think he needs another rehab start. They'll probably get him up as quick as they can...it's not like you know how many good starts you can get from him before the next injury occurs.
Reds catcher David Ross is pushing his way into the lineup more and more. His pairing with Bronson Arroyo is one thing, but these 2 HR games and the power he's showing definitely overshadows anything Jason LaRue has done.
The MRI on Morgan Ensberg's shoulder revealed no structural damage; just a little inflammation. He'll be back on Tuesday.
Big streak for Jose Contreras right now...while fanning 11 in tonight's game against the Rangers, he won his 15th straight decision.
The Orioles got back Jay Gibbons tonight. He was in the DH slot and went 2 for 5 with a run scored. He'll probably return to the outfield in a day or two.
A few other guys activated from the DL or back from day to day injuries today: Rockies IF Luis Gonzalez, Tigers OF Craig Monroe, Angels 1B/OF Darin Erstad, and Blue Jays SS Russ Adams
Say goodbye to Blue Jays 2B Edgardo Alfonzo and the guy with one foot out the door and the other on a banana peel is Twins DH Rondell White.

Catch you next time...
