Official Corey Patterson Warning!!!

I tried to warn you during Spring Training...

Corey Patterson blows. It's as simple as that. If you're one of those people that's still holding on to a shred of hope that he will once again be a 20/20 player, give it up. He's started twice in the first 10 games and is losing even more ground to Luis Matos for the centerfield job.

While he hasn't been completely benched, it doesn't sound like manager Sam Perlozzo is too thrilled with his performance to date. "What these guys have to realize is I am not looking for a guy to step in there and have three hits," Perlozzo said. "You just want to see a guy go in and have some good at-bats. If he lines out three times and he's 0-for-4, that's a good sign. But you can't go out and strike out three times. ... I still like him. I have high hopes for him." [from "Monster Year..." Baltimore Sun 4/14/06]

The high hopes part is probably just lip service, as he probably already knows Patterson's persona. If the situation stays like this, then Patterson's attitude will start to resurface. He'll start mouthing off and they'll ship him to the minors, hopefully. Buh-bye!
