What's the Buzz? 9/29/06

So the playoff picture is taking a little more shape, yet still clear as mud in the NL.

Both the Twins and the Tigers lost today which keeps them tied for first place in the AL Central. If they remain tied, then the tiebreaker goes to season series which is won by Detroit. Apparently though, it doesn't matter for Minnesota. According to their owner, Carl Pohlad, he'd rather see them face the Yankees because he, "knows that we can beat them." Seriously? Bring on the Yanks is your rallying cry? Someone needs to up the voltage on his shock treatments.

In the NL, with Houston losing and St. Louis winning, there's a little more breathing space for the Cards who now own a 1 1/2 game lead. The Dodgers won their game as the Padres lost putting them in atie for the NL West. Since the Pods own the season series, they would get the tie breaker leaving the Dodgers as the wild card winners. No sense in getting into all the tie breakers just yet...the Phillies and Astros are still fighting but need lots to happen over the next 2 days in order to get to the nex t step.

The rest are highlights...

If you're at the top, keep hangin' on. You're almost there.

Good luck over the weekend.

Catch you next time...
