Fantasy Gems in MLB Trash?
Take a look at these numbers and tell me if you'd like to have them on your fantasy team...
The batting lines go: Avg.-Runs-HR-RBI-SB
C .263-33-16-55-2
1B .289-40-14-54-3
2B .292-67-16-61-5
3B .326-77-16-66-7
SS .269-79-10-34-30
OF .284-29-5-22-4
How about these pitching lines? wins-ERA-WHIP-K's
SP 1 9 - 2.52 - 1.265 - 100
SP 2 9 - 3.90 - 1.275 - 111
Now I'm not saying these guys are the best, but if you're in a pretty deep league and you need a supporting cast around your bona fide studs, these guys look pretty damn good.
Who are they?
How about the Florida Marlins? Ladies and gentlemen...in corresponding order to the stats above, I give you:
Josh Willingham
Mike Jacobs
Dan Uggla
Miguel Cabrera
Hanley Ramirez
Jeremy Hermida
Josh Johnson and
Scott Olsen
I wrote a small article back in April saying that the Marlins weren't as bad as everyone said, and I've never been happier to be right. Sure, I didn't hit them all, but nobody's perfect. But take a look at some of these guys if you need some help in different areas. No one is worried about losing their job and manager Joe Girardi has them playing all out straight to the end. These are the types of guys that help bring home fantasy championships. There's even a solid case for 4 or 5 of them for NL Rookie of the Year honors.
Good luck down the stretch and I'll see you all in the money this year!!!
